During a briefing held on Wednesday, June 24, Eagle Pass Mayor Luis Sifuentes and Maverick County Judge David Saucedo reported that the total number of cases had increased by 13 going to 295. Mayor Sifuentes added that up-to-date 5,202 people have been tested with 4,202 coming back negative.
Maverick County has now tested about 8.8 percent of our entire population. “We are still pending 705 results,” said Sifuentes. "The total number of recovered patients is at 81, and we have had two deaths,” said Sifuentes. There are 212 active cases in our community.
Health officials announced that there are currently 9 patients who are hospitalized with two of them in very serious condition.
Those two individuals, a young male adult and an elderly are currently intubated and being treated with all available resources to try to reverse the effects of Covid-19. "As we all can see we are on a spike of cases," said Judge David Saucedo.
