Superintendent Mijares stated that the State of Texas will be providing guidelines next week on how to open schools back up for the coming school year. “They are not mandating for students to wear a face mask.
But they are going to give us guidelines next Tuesday.
I will be providing that information at a later date,” said Mijares. Mijares did add that the State will be providing the Eagle Pass Independent School District with 130,000 face masks, 60,000 gloves, over 30,000 reusable masks, 108 thermostats, and thousands of gallons of hand sanitizer.
This is what the state is appropriating for EPISD, so we can be equipped to start the next school year.
The schedule start date for the next school year is on August 17. Superintendent Mijares will present the school calendar at the upcoming EPISD School Board meeting, next Tuesday.
The Texas Education Agency issued a statement on Thursday in which they announced that the school year will begin in August and several options could be available. “It will be safe for Texas public school students, teachers, and staff to return to school campuses for in-person instruction this fall. But there will also be flexibility for families with health concerns so that their children can be educated remotely, if the parent so chooses. Detailed guidance on what this will look like will be issued by TEA early next week.”
