Sheriff Schmerber stated that Maverick County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to FM 1021 in regard to a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, contact was made with the driver of a 2005 blue Chrysler 300 who was identified as Maria Ballones (30) out of Uvalde, TX., along with 2 other passengers who all refused medical attention at the time of report.

Contact was then made with the second driver of a 2014 Lexus GS3 who was identified as Jose Medellin (19 yoa) out of Crystal City, TX. who also refused medical attention at the time of report.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Chrysler 300 was exiting from the parking lot of the Stripes gas station and turning left onto FM 1021, when she failed to yield right of way of the driver of the White Lexus GS3 causing for the Lexus to strike the Chrysler 300 on the back left quarter panel. The Chrysler then loss control and struck a precast concrete sign.

The Lexus had damages to its front center.

Both vehicles were towed away by Briones.
