La posición de Representante Estatal del Distrito 74 de la Cámara de Texas ha estado en manos del Partido Demócrata desde su creación y es muy probable que permanezca allí en función de la participación electoral anterior.

Antes de dejar el asiento, básicamente en juego, el demócrata saliente Alfonso Poncho Nevarez había ocupado el asiento con tres victorias sin oposición.

En 2018, Nevarez ganó su reelección sin oposición.

Antes de eso, la fortaleza de Nevarez resistió en 2016 y 2014 mientras corría sin oposición.

En 2012, Nevarez derrotó al entonces demócrata Robert Garza, quien dirigió las últimas elecciones como republicano, y Efrain Valdez.

Nevarez pasó a derrotar a Thomas C. Kincaid. Morales se enfrentará al candidato republicano Rubén Falcón en el mes de noviembre.

Heriberto "Eddie" Morales's win in the March 3rd Texas Democratic Primary has more than likely assured that the Texas House District 74 State Representative seat will be occupied by a Democrat and local Maverick Countian. 

The Texas House District 74 State Representative position has been in the hands of the Democratic Party since it's creation and is highly likely that it will remain there based on past voter turnout.

Before the seat was left, basically up for grabs, outgoing Democrat Alfonso Poncho Nevarez had occupied the seat with three unopposed wins.

Back in 2018, Nevarez won his re-election without any opposition.

Before then, Nevarez' stronghold held up for 2016 and 2014, as he ran unopposed.

In 2012 Nevarez defeated then Democrat Robert Garza - who ran this past election as a Republican - and Efrain Valdez.

Nevarez went on to defeat Thomas C. Kincaid. Morales is set to go up against Republican Candidate Ruben Falcon in the month of November.
