The Council held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, in which one of the items on the agenda was a consideration to approve Request for Proposals.
During the meeting City Finance Director Jesse Rodriguez presented the City Council with information regarding proposals they had received and reviewed through a committee.
Rodriguez then recommended that the Council consider authorizing Antuna to negotiate with the golf management company.
Touchstone Executive Vice President Doug Harker addressed the council and provided details as to what the company would be offering the City and its golf course.
Harker has significant direct golf industry experience having served as Vice President of Sales for Redstone Golf Management and as General Manager of Wildcat Golf Club in Houston, Texas. Mr. Harker has also served in various board and committee assignments for the Houston Golf Association, Southern Texas Golf Association and United States Golf Association.
Touchstone currently manages 40 golf courses across the Nation, with 9 of them in the State of Texas.
“We concentrate on making a golf course a part of the community as to it just being a place where golfers go to play golf,” said Harker.
The Eagle Pass City Council has been looking to improve the community golf course for years and is now on par to do so with the contracting of a company to run it.
The City Council approved to allow for negotiations to take place between the City and Touchstone Golf.
“We look forward to being able to improve the golf course, not only for current golfers but new golfers, women, children, and everybody because that's what a thriving community golf course should be like,” said Mayor Elect Luis Sifuentes.
Touchstone Golf is a recognized leader in the golf course industry, providing comprehensive Management Services to golf course owners.
