Congressman Will Hurd, who represents Congressional District 23 - which includes Maverick County, a predominantly Hispanic community - voted against moving forward with an Impeachment Inquiry against United States President Donald J. Trump on Thursday October, 31.

The Democratic-held chamber however, did approve a resolution setting up its impeachment probe strategy by a margin of 232-196. No Republicans voted in favor of the resolution.

In the past months Hurd has been at the center of the impeachment fiasco that has been gaining momentum in previous weeks due to actions being taken on both sides of the aisle..

The House has now approved the guidelines for its impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

Support for an impeachment inquiry has grown after a whistleblower pointed out and alleged that Trump abused his power to affect the 2020 election.

Hurd represents a district with more than 800 miles (ca. 1,287 km) of U.S.-Mexico border and is set to retire at the end of his current term.

Rep. Hurd's political future could include a run for the Republicans’ presidential nomination in 2024.
