Last week the Commissioners Court approved to hire an individual as co- foreman to assist in the daily operations at the Road and Bridge Department.
The court is looking to provide the necessary tools for the department to be able to keep up with the work demand being seen at this time.
During the workshop the Court discussed several topics regarding the current Road and Bridge Department organizational structure, overtime hours, dual supervisor responsibilities and duties, and extent of work growth in recent years.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and the Commissioners Court proceeded to hold a lengthy discussion over how overtime hours on the weekend could be distributed under a prioritized effort to assure that all 4 county precincts were being serviced under these efforts.
“We need to find a remedy for this and assure that we provide the deserved services to the community,” said Judge Saucedo.
The Court voted in favor of allowing for up to 12 Road and Bridge Department employees to work up to 6 hours of overtime on the weekend due to the increasing workload being experienced.
The Maverick County Road and Bridge Department has been overwhelmed with work in recent years as they continue pushing in a unified effort to catch up and provide services to all 4 precincts, services that had not been provided in some precincts for years. The Maverick County Commissioners Court led by Judge Saucedo are unified in the effort and are looking for all viable solutions to assure that the county does not fall behind in providing those services to the constituency.
The County will continue exploring and implementing options that will best fit its Departments and ultimately the local residents.
