Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber announced that Sheriff's Department will invest $18,000 for the purchase of body cameras to be used by jailors at the Tom Bowles Detention Center.
Sheriff Schmerber reported that starting this week jail employees will receive training on the use of these devices, which they must wear at all times in order to record any contact they have with inmates.
Schmerber stressed that this will help avoid problems with the inmates, as there will be evidence of any incident that may arise.
