The Mavericks competed against many high school bands from across the region during the marching event.

At the end of the competition the Maverick band received its 14 consecutive sweepstakes in the UIL marching contest, which goes back to the opening of CC Winn HS.

Receiving a first division at this event has allowed the Maverick band to continue into the next phase of its playoffs which is UIL Area competition.

Area competition will be held at the same stadium which is D.W. Rutledge stadium in Converse, TX this coming week on October 26, 2019.

During the next phase of competition, twenty-one bands will be performing for a shot at making Area finals.

A selected group of finalists will perform later that evening for a shot at advancing to UIL State competition.

The Maverick band made area finals in 2015 in the Area G competition and missed advancing to State by one band and missed making Area finals by one band in 2017 in Area H.

The Maverick Band has been dedicated and determined to make Area finals this year.

“Congratulations to the Maverick Band!! From students to parents. I know these hours of practices have been vigorous and/or time-consuming.

However everyone plays a role in our successes. From the parent who has to make arrangements to have their child picked up or dropped off for rehearsal, games, or competitions; the parents who help us at competitions to the performer who is helping with equipment, props, making sure our system is up and running, setting up podiums, and playing an instrument. Believe me, nothing brings me more joy than to see our community and families come together. Thank you to everyone for this great opportunity to direct these great group of kids. We are on our way to area !!!!,” said Mr. Rodriguez.
