40-year-old Frank Velazquez, Jr, a former Maverick County Sheriff's Deputy who is being accused of aggravated sexual assault of a minor - in this case his 5-year-old stepdaughter - which allegedly occurred in the month of January in 2018, appeared at the 293rd District Court before honorable District Judge Maribel Flores on Friday, October 4.

Velazquez was in court as part of legal proceedings in his 2018 accusation. Velazquez is expected to go to trial to face the criminal charge against him in the following months.

Back on January 2018 Velazquez was arrested by the Maverick County Sheriff's Department under allegations of aggravated sexual assault.

An investigation into the accusation found sufficient evidence to warrant an arrest, which was conducted at Velazquez's home without any incident.

Velazquez was presented before a Justice of the Peace and received a $180,000 bail on January 10, 2018, and was released with the understanding that he must adhere to the courts requisites.

Velasquez paid 10% under a bondsman, or $18,000.

The case is now in the courts and a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for November 7 with Judge Maribel Flores.
