The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees held a ground breaking ceremony for the new Eagle Pass High School Band Hall expansion on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

During the event School Administrators and the EPISD Board of Trustees welcomed all in attendance and expressed their content on this long awaited expansion project.

EPISD Superintendent Samuel Mijares emphasized the importance of this project.

EPHS Band Director David Solis spoke of the rich history that has been built at the current band hall facility.

Soliz thanked individuals who were instrumental in this project coming to a fruition, which includes the EPISD Board of Trustees retired band director Raul Gonzalez, and long time advocate Humberto "Beto" Garza.

This project has been a great necessity that had never been seriously looked at until two years ago when the EPISD Board of Trustees and Administration began its planning stages as part of a multimillion dollar Capital Improvement Projects throughout the district.

The expansion will cost approximately $5,509,386 for both High School Band Halls.

The Eagle Pass High School Band Hall will go from approximately 7,000 sqft to 17,000 sqft and will cost approximately $2,850,000.

The EPHS Band Hall has been outgrown for many years, as it currently accommodates over 300 students when it was originally built for no more than 100, over 50 years ago.
