The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 pm on Thursday, September 19 when the Eagle Pass Fire Department were summoned to a house fire.
Upon arriving at the scene, elements of the EPFD led by Fire Chief Manuel Mello and Assistant Fire Chief Rodolfo Cardona proceeded to fight the fire which had begun to spread into the roof area of the building.
While battling the blaze firefighter Nashey Armendariz was injured when her protective gear began to melt from the intense heat the blaze was creating.
The Firefighter walked away from the building and was assisted to a safe area where she was evaluated and treated.
Minutes later, the female firefighter was cleared, and she wanted to continue assisting with putting out the fire.
EPFD personnel were on scene for several hours to assure that the building was safe from a blaze starting up once again.
The Eagle Pass Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
