Among the candidates that are seeking re-election is Maverick County Commissioner Pct 1 Jerry Morales,who have been in office since 2015 when he was elected to an unexpired term after he had been appointed to replace Eliaz Maldonado.

Morales is seeking reelection to his position. Other public officials scheduled to seek re-election include 293rd District Attorney Roberto Serna. who is going up against Attorney Albert Rodriguez in the May primary.

The Texas State Senator - currently held by Rep Peter P. Flores - will also be up for election. Flores is expected to seek re-election. Texas State Representative Alfonso “Poncho” Nevarez of Eagle Pass is scheduled to seek reelection.

The Maverick County Attorney position will also be on the ballot. Appointed Attorney Gloria Hernandez is going to seek the elected position.

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber will seek reelection to the position he has been elected for twice. Schmerber is expected to have several candidates seeking to win the Sheriff position from him.

Another important position up for election is the Maverick County Commissioner of Precinct 3 seat held by Pete Venegas, Jr. Venegas is expected to seek re-election. 

Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector Isamari Sanchez-Villarreal is more than likely going to seek reelection in the elected position she has held for numerous years.

The Maverick County Democratic Party Chair position will also be up for election.

All Maverick County Constable positions will be up for election as well. Candidates will be able to register their candidacy as of November 9, 2019, with early voting to take place during April 2020 and primaries to be during May.
