The City has been working on several projects that will help address flooding concerns throughout the city, including the reconstruction of parts of the city's main canal system.
Back in January of this year, the City began closely looking at alleviating flooding issues that affect different parts of the community. This includes updating the City’s drainage master plan.
During a meeting in January the City Council was presented a list of problem areas that are recognized and a priority in the drainage master plan.
Among the areas on the list include Foxborough, Westlakes, and 57 Heights subdivisions, Colorado, Concho, Pierce, Buckley, and Memorial Streets.
Other areas that are of concern include Rancho Escondido, North Bibb/Misty Willow, Drive Treasure Hills, DeBonna and Katy Drive.
The City Council and administration discussed certain factors that were to be considered, including adding of detention ponds, improvements to existing ponds and other projects that would help in alleviating flooding issues in these areas.
