A month later, the project continues moving forward with several miles of the 20- mile project that have already been replaced.
EPWWS Manager Jorge Barrera states that the work being done has been steady and no serious problem has been encountered during the past 30 days.
The waterline replacement project concentrated in the downtown area is part of a $50,000,000 EPWWS expansion project that has been in the works for several years. Barrera states that the waterline replacement project is one of the two largest projects to be taken on under the multi million dollar expansion.
The Cast Iron Pipe Replacement Project will cost $17,435,000 and will replace 20 miles (ca. 32 km) of service pipes in the downtown area and other additional areas within city limits.
EPWWS will begin the expansion of the Roberto Gonzalez Treatment Plant and Belt Filter Press Project as well. The cost of that project will be approximately $12,086,000.
