The Eagle Pass City Council and Administration have been working on setting this year's $40,649,875 budget which comes with a proposed tax rate of $0.540743 as compared the 2018 tax rate which was at $0.542489/ per every $100 valuation. This is a small decrease.
This rate is lower than the rollback tax rate and state law does not require for public hearings to be held by the governing body before adopting the proposed tax rate if it goes with the effective tax rate. Notification of the tax rate must be published.
The city’s effective tax rate is $0.540743/ per every $100 valuation and the rollback rate came in at $0.567084/ $100.
The effective tax rate is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the City from the same properties in the 2018 tax year.
The City of Eagle Pass is currently working/ planning numerous capital improvement projects including a $12 million dollar sports complex.
