The American part of the Camino Real International Bridge is owned and managed by the City of Eagle Pass. The Mexican part is owned and managed by Caminos y Puentes Federales de Ingresos y Servicios Conexos (CAPUFE), the Mexican federal toll road and bridge authority.
The bridge has six lanes and is 82 feet wide by 1,384 feet long and includes two six-foot sidewalks for pedestrians.
The bridge was constructed in the late 1990s and began operations on September 3, 1999.
Since then the City of Eagle Pass has worked together with the Federal Government to improve the bridge system with capital improvements.
In the past few years the Camino Real International Bridge has had an increase in traffic, including commercial traffic, making the area bridge systems some of the most used bridge systems in the State.
