The City of Eagle Pass is looking to attract more commercial type events at the International Center for Trade, and non-commercial events as well.

The Eagle Pass City Council approved an ordinance seeking to modify current requirements for commercial events at the ITC, including a rental fee and a percentage of ticket sales.

Under the new ordinance amendments the city would eliminate the city's take of ticket sales allowing the renter more profitability. ITC director Aide Castano did state that a slight increase in rental fees was recommended.

Castano also notified the Council that she would also recommend the city consider giving certain non-commercial event discounts on days that the center is not rented out/ used at all.

"This will help us promote the use of the facility and assure rental revenues during days that there is no activity at the ITC," said Castano.

The Eagle Pass City Council approved the first reading of the ordinance which will be presented at least two more times before being set into place.
