3 Years Later Def. Eduardo Romero Jr. Admits Involvement in Hit & Run Accident that Severely injured Justo E. Montes

Over three years have passed since former Maverick County Sheriff Deputy Eduardo Romero Jr. was accused of striking Justo Ernesto Montes, a pedestrian, along Bibb St. with a vehicle and leaving the scene on March 5, 2021. Romero was formally indicted in April 2022, and his criminal case is currently in the District Court System going through the process, which most recently has seen his legal attorney file a waiver of a jury trial and a stipulation of testimony.
Romero, through his legal counsel under the waiving of a jury trial, seeks to have arbitration or a bench trial without a jury.
