This was the scene on Garrison Street where two vehicles crashed sending one of the cars nearly into the propoerty of the Eagle Pass Dental Clinic. Here one of the vehicles is towed off after sustaining significant damage. Eagle Pass Police Officers survey the wreckage and we will be awaiting official reports which will be in tomorrow’s edition of your Eagle Pass News Gram.
At approximately noon on Monday numerous units, an ambulance and even an AirLife transport were requested in reference to a one vehicle rollover which occurred on this lone stretch of highway, killing a Del Rio man. Officers of the Maverick County Sheriff's Department, EMS rescue personnel and officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the area. Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber informed The News Gram that indeed an accident had occurred, one sole passenger, the driver of the as of yet unidentified unit rolled over several times before coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway which temporarily stopped the flow of traffic on FM 131 to Spofford. He stated that they believe the driver hails from our sister city of Del Rio. The case remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

An accident which occurred some time between 9:30 and 10:00 A.M. has claimed the life of at least one Eagle Pass youth and her mother.
The accident occurred approximately two miles out of Del Rio on Highway 277 and involved their private vehicle and a large commercial vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel, law enforcement vehicles and rescue vehicles were all dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:30 A.M. a couple of miles outside of Del Rio near the city limits adjacent to Chavira Elementary.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting the investigation on this tragic turn of events which has left Eagle Pass and one of our high schools reeling once again with the emotion of yet another loss of life on our Texas highways.
