WE ARE NOW COMMEMORATING THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE VIETNAM WAR. I FELT IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO WRITE AN ESSAY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCES OF THE VIETNAM WAR "GRUNTS". THE REASON I'M WRITING THIS ESSAY IS BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO FORGET OUR PAIN, OUR HUMILIATION, OUR ANGER, OUR SHAME, AND SELF-DEFEATING WAYS FOR HAVING GONE TO FIGHT IN THE VIETNAM WAR. AS VIETNAM WAR VETERANS, WE SEEK NO SPECIAL GLORY, BUT WE DO NOT WANT OUR WARTIME EXPERIENCES TO BE BRUSHED ASIDE AND REMANDED TO THE DUST BIN OF HISTORY
