Congressman Pete P. Gallego (TX-23) released the following statement in response to the tragic shooting at the Washington Navy Yard this morning:
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Those working at the Navy Yard – and military installations across the country and throughout the world – are patriots. They are also spouses, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters.
I pray that God will bless and keep the victims and their families, for whom life will never again be the same. May our system of law hold the individual or individuals every inch accountable for their cowardly, heinous and despicable act.
I’ll continue to monitor the situation through the House Armed Services Committee, on which I serve, along with the Office of Secretary of Defense.
We will bring those responsible for this cowardly act to justice.”
