Lucia Garza: 1922-2014

Lucia Garza, born on August 20, 1922, went with the Lord on January 30, 2014 at the age of 91.

Born in Mexico, Lucia Garza is survived by Raul Garza, Rosa Garza, Alicia Garza, Irma Garza, Apolito Garza, and Sergio Garza. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Lucia was a stern, disciplined woman who found great comfort in the love shared by her family. She enjoyed long visits from those who were close to her, and made sure everyone who visited her had the opportunity to spend time with her in her beautiful garden. Lucia also enjoyed barbecuing; she was deeply fond of Mexican food, especially barbacoa. Her family will surely remember how delicious her fritadas was. Until her final days, Lucia remained an elegant, virtuous woman with absolute love for those close to her.

Lucia’s viewing was held on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 pm., with a Rosary held at 11 a.m. on the same day. Services were held on the same day at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was laid to rest at the Santo Cristo Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support for the Garza family.

Lucia Garza will be dearly missed.

David Gomez Lopez: 1932-2014

David Gomez Lopez, born on October 30, 1932, went with the Lord on January 30, 2014 at the age of 81.

Born in Mexico, David is survived by his lovely and devoted wife Rosa Lopez. He is also survived by his daughters Alma Rosa Mendez and Maria Concepcion Lopez; his daughters David Javier and Sergio Javier Lopez; his brother Pedro Lopez Gomez; and his sisters Santa Rosa Lopez and Martha Lopez Gomez, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

David was known to be a great, intelligent professor and a righteous, considerate guide, always ready to deal with all things that came his way. His devoted wife Rosa knew him as an affectionate and loving husband and a remarkable partner who she was fortunate to share her life with. Some knew him as a passionate mechanic who not only managed to repair automobiles and engines, but who undisputedly loved doing so. Others knew him as a baseball fanatic. But everyone who ever came his way will remember him as a great man. David was a loving and devoted husband, an exemplary father, and a great, respectable, righteous friend.

He was laid to rest at the Maverick County Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for the Gomez and Lopez families, as well as everyone close to David.

Ruben Dedicatoria Justo

1948-2014

Ruben Dedicatoria Justo, born on January 7, 1948, went with the Lord on January 31, 2014 at the age of 66.

Born in the Philippines, Ruben was the son of Hugo Justo and Inocencia Dedicatoria. He is survived by his devoted wife Trinidad Garrido. He is also survived by Jade Justo, Jonah Alvero, Jalyn Justo, and John J. Justo, as well as seven grandchildren.

Ruben served in the Philippine Navy for approximately twenty years, before retiring as a commander. It was during his service as a young lieutenant that he met his loving wife Trinidad, whom he married and shared his life with for forty-two years. Among other things, his wife Trin will remember Ruben for the great cook he was, and will never forget the days when they would compete against each other to see who made the best meal. Also known as "Ben" by those close to him, he was a man who was fond of the outdoors, and would frequently spend his days hunting, fishing, and gardening. Some might remember Ben for the great, ardent singer he was and will cherish the occasions when they saw him perform. His family knew and appreciated how much Ben loved his home, and how fond he was of such little things as watching the Travel Channel, the Food Network, and Syfy. Everyone who loved him will surely miss his great presence and his tender, loving heart.

Ben's viewing will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 10 am to 9 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapels. Another viewing will take place on Monday, February 10 from 10 am to 1:30 pm, followed by his Service at St. Joseph's Church at 2 pm. Arrangements were made under the great care and direction of Valdez & Sons Memorial Funeral Chapels.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support for the Dedicatoria and Justo families, as well as everyone close to Ruben.      Ruben will be dearly missed...
