As of Monday, there has been no date set in the case of Justice of the Peace Cesar Perez, Elisa Martinez and Martha Zamarripa who were arrested on Friday on two State charges of theft by a public servant and engaging in organized criminal activity.
Authorities meet to insure security in Eagle Pass schools

Eagle Pass authorities and Maverick County met to adopt a major security plan for all Eagle Pass schools.
The meeting took place at the District Service Center Board Room and all gathered went over measures to step up security in the wake of the Newtown tragedy in Connecticut.
EPISD Police authorities along with US Border Patrol officials, officers of the Texas Department of Public Safety, EPPD, the Maverick County Sheriff's Department among others attended.
EPISD Superintendent Gilbert Gonzalez informed The News Gram that the US Border Patrol and the Sheriff's Department will back up the EPISD's efforts to secure our schools and the safety of its children.
These agencies will help to reinforce security at schools such as Rosita Valley, Sam Houston, Mancha and Maude Mae Kirschner in Quemado.
The State of Texas has asked that all districts do what they must to make sure that an incident such as the one at Sandy Hook Elementary never happens here.
13 applicants for the position of EPISD Chief

This past Thursday, the position of EPISD Chief of police closed, and after it was all said and done, 13 applicants will be vying for the job.
The EPISD Human Resources Department informed The News Gram that the Board of Trustees will decide who the final applicants will be deemed worthy of interviewing.
The finalist for the position will be given at a later date.
Included in the list of applicants is former Chief of Police Johnny Ruiz who was let go by the EPISD last year.
Also on the list this time around is Eduardo Esquivel, Interim Police Chief, four EPPD officers as well as other EPISD officers who are seeking consideration as well.
The following is the complete list of applicants for EPISD Chief of Police:
Scott Caballero, Francisco Duran, Orlando Escareño, Eduardo Esquivel, Alberto Guajardo, Jose M. Morales, Esequiel Navejas, Jose A. Ramos, Jose Regalado, Manuel Reyes, Johnny R. Ruiz, Humberto Torralba and Ynosencio Crestino.
The decision will be made by the Board of trustees in the coming days.
