15 lbs of Cocaine discovered near golf course

Law enforcement authorities reported
that a satchel with approximately 15 lbs
of Cocaine was found in the vicinity of
the City of Eagle Pass Municipal Golf
Course. Patrol officers from the Eagle
Pass Police Department were summoned
to the Golf Course by United States
Border Patrol on Saturday, October 2
regarding the finding.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers made
contact with Border Patrol agents and
Golf Course personnel.
They were then led to an area where a
satchel with the narcotics was located.
The Eagle Pass Police Department
Detectives Division took over the scene
and gathered the evidence and transported
the satchel to the Police Department
evidence room. An investigation is
ongoing into this finding.
The estimated value of the narcotics is
approximately $240,000 before hitting
the streets. In recent years there have
been numerous times that narcotics, in
the same manner have been found ne
ar the downtown area along the Rio
Grande River.
The Eagle Pass Independent School District is in the process
of gifting a surplus portable building from the school district
to the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association.
