As a result of the final approval of SB 4, signed into effect by Texas Governor Greg Abbott on May 7, 2017, a group of law enforcement officials, cities, and counties have filed a federal lawsuit against the State of Texas in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division.
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber and Constable for Precinct 3 AB Mario Hernandez have joined the suit, adamantly challenging its weight under constitutional law.
Sheriff to host law enforcement conference
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber is hoping to bring together law enforcement throughout the area through a conference that aims to facilitate communication and gather intel to better fight crime.
