The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued a detailed report on their investigation of a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred on February 6, at approximately 3:00 a.m. on State Highway 131, approximately 16 miles south of Bracketville.

Three people have died and two were injured in a head-on collision on Hwy 481 on Tuesday, December 25 at approximately 11:50 a.m. on the Old Uvalde Road approximately 25 miles southeast of Uvalde.

DPS reports that a Ford Expedition occupied by a driver and three passengers was traveling north on FM 481. The Ford Expedition struck a wild hog on the roadway, and entered the southbound lane of travel and struck a 2011 Mercedes GK3 headon. 

The Maverick County Sheriff Department and Eagle Pass Fire Department responded to the emergency call and upon arrival both agencies found the two vehicles completely engulfed in flames. The Eagle Pass Fire Department rescue unit extracted the five individuals that were involved from within the motor vehicles and transferred them to Uvalde Memorial Hospital. 

Ruby Garza, 51, driver of the Ford Expedition and a resident of Uvalde, was pronounced dead on the scene. Julia Vasquez, 51, a passenger in the Ford Expedition and a resident of Uvalde was pronounced dead at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. Antonio Cordova, 27, driver of the Mercedes and a resident of Eagle Pass was pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS Troopers are still investigating at this time.

 

 

3 muertos en  trágico accidente

  Tres personas murieron y dos resultaron heridas en un choque de frente en la carretera Hwy 481 el martes 25 de diciembre  aproximadamente a las 11:50 a.m. en la calle Old Uvalde Road, a 40 km al sureste de Uvalde.

  DPS informa que una Ford Expedition ocupada por la conductora y tres pasajeros viajaba hacia el norte por la FM 481. La Ford Expedition golpeó un cerdo salvaje en la carretera, y entró en el otro carril  hacia el sur y chocó contra un Mercedes GK3 2011.  

  El Departamento de Sheriff del Condado de Maverick y el Departamento de Bomberos de Eagle Pass respondieron a la llamada de emergencia y al llegar ambas agencias encontraron los dos vehículos completamente envueltos en llamas. La unidad de rescate del Departamento de Bomberos de Eagle Pass saco a las cinco personas involucradas desde dentro de los vehículos y fueron  transferidos al Hospital de Uvalde Memorial.

  Ruby Garza, de 51 años, conductora de Ford Expedition y residente de Uvalde, fue declarada muerta en la escena.

   DPS Troopers todavía están investigando los detalles de el accidente.

The Maverick County Sheriff Department responded to an emergency call on highway 57 past the Border Patrol checkpoint Thursday, December 7 involving a Texas Department Public Safety  vehicle and Trooper whose vehicle had rolled over.

A tractor trailer rollover on Highway 277 North towards Del Rio, Tx. resulted in one person being sent to the emergency room. The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

On Saturday, June 10, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Eagle Pass Police Department Investigators, in association with the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested an adult male. The arrest was made in connection with the seizure of 11.5 pounds of black tar heroin which has an estimated street value of $240,000. The adult male was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center and is pending presentation before a magistrate at this time. The case remains under investigation.

Six hour standoff in Quemado

Rodrigo Gonzalez arrested after barricading himself in mobile home

 Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies were involved in a six hour standoff with an individual on a ranch off of FM 1908 near Quemado,Texas on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

   At approximately 1:00 pm, an emergency call came into the Maverick County Sheriff Department in which an individual was reported to have broken into a mobile home to rob the residence.

  Reports state that a ranch hand entered the mobile home which was located on a ranch off of FM 1908, and startled a man, identified as Rodrigo Gonzalez, with one of several weapons that were inside the trailer. The weapons included a shotgun, two high caliber weapons, and three hunting rifles, one of which had a night scope, all of which are currently in possession of the Maverick County Sheriff Department. Gonzalez fired a single shot at the ranch hand but missed. The ranch hand fled and called the Sheriff Department to report the incident.

   Law enforcement agents arrived at the scene and found Gonzalez barricaded inside the  structure.

   A standoff with Gonzalez then ensued for more than six hours, and involved numerous law enforcement agencies.

   DPS SWAT and U.S. Border Patrol Tactical Operations Team were then organized, and at 8:00 p.m. proceeded to storm the mobile home, and were able to detain Gonzalez.

  The Maverick County Sheriff Department would like to thank USBP BORTAC, DPS, Eagle Pass Fire Department, Assistant Fire Chief Rodolfo Cardona, EMS, Constables Hernandez and Chacon, ICE, and Texas Rangers for their assistance during the incident.

  Gonzalez is believed to be Schizophrenic, and was taken into custody and will await due process or be submitted to a mental institute for mental health treatment. He is being charged with burglary of a habitation and deadly conduct. 

Gonzalez had previously burned down his own home on the corner of  Zacatecas and Vista Hermosa in June 2016, and was sent to San Antonio for psychiatric evaluation.

   In January 2016, Gonzalez was arrested by the Eagle Pass Police Department after verbally assaulting associates at Academy Sports + Outdoors who asked him if he had a valid license as he insisted he be sold a firearm.

 El Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Maverick,  junto con el Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Texas y la Patrulla Fronteriza de Estados Unidos participaron en un enfrentamiento de seis horas con un individuo en un área en FM 1908 cerca de Quemado, Texas, el martes 4 de abril de 2017 .

   Aproximadamente a la 1:00 pm, una llamada de emergencia entró en el Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Maverick en el que un individuo se informó de haber robado en una casa móvil.

   Informes indican que un ayudante de rancho entró en la casa móvil que estaba ubicada en un rancho de FM 1908, y sorprendió a un hombre, identificado como Rodrigo González, con una de varias armas que estaban dentro de la habitación. Las armas incluían una escopeta, dos armas de alto calibre y tres rifles de caza, todos los cuales están actualmente en posesión del Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Maverick. 

   González disparó una sola vez, pero falló. El trabajador del rancho corrio y llamó al Departamento del Sheriff para informar del incidente.

   Agentes de la ley llegaron al lugar y encontraron a González dentro de la  casa móvil

   A continuación, se produjo un enfrentamiento con González durante más de seis horas, e involucró a numerosas agencias policiales.

   DPS SWAT y el Equipo de Operaciones Tácticas de la Patrulla Fronteriza de los EE. UU. Fueron organizados y, a las 8:00 pm, procedieron a asaltar la casa móvil y pudieron detener a González.

   Se cree que González es esquizofrénico y fue detenido y aguardará el debido proceso o será sometido a un instituto para tratamiento de salud mental.

 Está siendo acusado de robo  y conducta mortal.

   González había quemado previamente su propia casa en la esquina de Zacatecas y Vista Hermosa en junio de 2016, y fue enviado a San Antonio para su evaluación psiquiátrica.

En enero de 2016, González fue arrestado por el Departamento de Policía de Eagle Pass después de agredir verbalmente a los asociados de Academy Sports + Outdoors, quien le preguntó si tenía una licencia válida, ya que insistió en que le vendieran un arma de fuego.
