Eagle Pass on July 3, 1931. He attended Eagle Pass High School and Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, Texas, where he played football. Albert volunteered for the Marine Corp in 1951. During his years of military service, Albert earned the rank of staff sergeant and earned multiple sharpshooter awards. He also served his country in the Korean War while an active duty marine. As a young man, Albert worked in California and Montana on an oil field after leaving the service.
In 1960 Albert married Diamantina Mireles and together they raised their two sons, Tom and Richard, in Los Fresnos, Texas and Eagle Pass, Texas. Albert worked for the Texas Liquor Control Board and the US Immigration & Naturalization Service as an Immigration Inspector and Supervisor until his retirement in 1992.
Albert's love of animals and the outdoors shaped his hobbies, and he spent many years raising cattle, hunting, and enjoying his ranch outside of Eagle Pass. He especially enjoyed visits from his five grandchildren, who looked forward to holiday hunts at PawPaw's house.
In his later years, Albert remained an avid fan of western movies and country music. He was a fiercely patriotic American who held true to his beliefs and valued loyalty and duty to country. He flew his US flag proudly!
Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, his parents, and his two sisters, Dora Perez and Romelia Rodriguez.
He is survived by his two children, Tom (Dorothy) Ellis, and Richard (Carren) Ellis, and five grandchildren: Southern (Courtney) Ellis, Hunter (Caroline) Ellis, Macy Ellis, Anderson Ellis, and Miles Ellis.
Albert's close nieces, Myrna Olguin, Sandra Perez, and Marylou Betancourt were an integral part of his healthcare in his last years, and the family is indebted to them for their abundant kindness and loving care.
The family will greet visitors at Yeager-Barrera Mortuary in Eagle Pass on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Mr. Ellis will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. with full Military Honors.
