Food collections for the USDA Feds Feed Families (FFF) campaign has begun. Federal employees across the nation have reached into their hearts and their pantries to collect and donate non-perishable goods to support families across America.

The FFF campaign started when Congressman Frank Wolf (Virginia) informed then Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Director John Berry of the food bank’s dire need for food during summer months when children are out of school. Many of these children depend on free- or reduced-price meal programs and will not have enough nutritious food to eat.

It is a great time to get our local pantries restocked since the summer months are when the food banks are depleted the most.

Since the campaign started in 2009, nearly 39 million pounds of food has been collected by federal employees. Last year 14,849,380 pounds of food were collected.

The Campaign officially begins July, 15 2015 and will run through October 2, 2015. Please bring your contribution of non-perishable food items at the NRCS office located at 2210 N. Veterans Blvd., Ste. 130. If the office is closed please call 830.773.2518 and leave a message to make arrangements for delivery.
