An early morning incident in Pueblo Nuevo on Sunday mobilized Maverick County officers and led to the arrest of one Eagle Pass man.

According to a press release by the Maverick County Sheriff's Department, deputies were dispatched to the 2800 block of Sewell Street Sunday March 1st, shortly after 8:30 A.M., in regards to reports of a verbal argument in progress.

Units arrived at the scene to find a male subject, later identified as Ricardo Adolfo Vasquez, arguing with his girlfriend before leaving the area in a green 2014 Ford Mustang.

Mr. Vasquez then initiated a pursuit from Sewell Street to the 3100 block of Calle Carr before pulling into his home driveway and emerging from the vehicle with his two year old daughter.    Deputies commanded Mr.Vasquez to hand over his daughter and place his hands behind his back, which he was unwilling to do.

Forced to use hands restraints, deputies requested to administer a field sobriety exam on Mr. Vasquez, which he declined to partake in. Mr. Vasquez was then placed under arrest form driving while intoxicated, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and endangerment to a child. He was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. The two year old daughter was returned to her mother unharmed.
