Joseph Karl Wipff, Jr., 73, of Burkett, formerly of Quemado, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. Private family services will be held at a later date.
He was born October 31, 1939 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Martha Christine (Karow) and Joseph Karl Wipff, Jr. He lived most of his life in Quemado until 2000. He was a Veteran of the Navy serving during the Cold War. He married Sandra Ellen Eccleston on October 31, 1987 in Crystal City. He was a rancher in Quemado for most of his life. He was a Deputy Sheriff in Uvalde and Maverick Counties. He was also a Game Warden in Dimmit, Maverick and Zavala Counties and a Constable in Maverick County. He was a Lutheran.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Wipff of Burkett: four sons: Russell Wipff of Lubbock, Joseph Karl Wipff, III of Canby, Oregon, John Wipff of Abilene and Daniel Wipff of Burkett; one sister and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
